ANCESTRAL APPRECIATION BASKET
This Basket was created to say, "Thank You",to our  ancestors.  It is dedicated to the Africans, who brought this craft to America and taught it to other slaves and to the African Americans, who kept this art form alive, by teaching it to the generations that came after them.
This basket fashioned after the pattern of an African wedding basket. Wedding Baskets get their name because they are traditionally given to a newlywed African bride as a wedding gift. The diamonds on the basket represent the amount of cattle given to the brides family to replace her monetary value in the home.
